Bestival: Chic style back in fashion

Nile Rodgers and Chic will return to the Isle of Wight in September to headline Bestival.

SONGWRITING superstar Nile Rodgers and the band Chic will return to Bestival this year, to headline Sunday night.

Bestival curator Rob da Bank said: "Ever since I first booked Chic and Nile for Bestival a few years back they have hands down been the best live band we've ever had at Bestival and Camp Bestival.

"And once people start realising how many hits Nile has written and produced for artists ranging from Madonna and David Bowie through to Daft Punk's Get Lucky, you realise this is just one huge disco jukebox that is gonna keep firing out the hits all night.

"I’m over the moon that Nile and the crew are going to wrap up our Desert Island Disco Finale with a damn funky, glittery bang. Everybody Dance."

Chic will perform an exclusive Desert Island Disco Finale, featuring some of their greatest hits, from Le Freak (Aw Freak Out) and Good Times, to tracks penned by Nile including Let’s Dance and Like A Virgin.

Nile said: "I’m so excited to be back at Bestival, this time in the prestigious Sunday night headliner slot following legends Stevie Wonder and Elton John."

Other headliners confirmed for Bestival 2014 include OutKast, Foals and Beck.

I'm struggling to see how this is a bad booking for Bestival and how Rob has 'handed his crown to Mr Giddings'.

The festivals alone are VERY different, people attend each for different reasons. If you look at past bookings and rumours people expect Rob to go for artists other festivals may not book. He's always said he wants Dolly Parton to appear.

And if it's because Chic have already performed at the Bestival.......Kings of Leon have already headlined the IOW festival and how many times have Starsailor performed.......

I get the feeling Rob has trouble finding bands/artists that are willing to play at these festivals. Recycling old names is a sign of desperation and in my opinion lacks imagination.
