Competitors from Plumstead Manor School excelled in the Greenwich Schools Cross-country Championships, held at Avery Hill Park last Wednesday.

Lisa Hyland won the Year 8 race, while Toni Stembalski triumphed in Year 10.

Perhaps it was not surprising that Lisa won. Although only 12, she runs for Dartford Harriers and has also represented London and gained honours at county level.

Holly Beswick (3rd), Gemma Navsa (4th), Nicola Barcoe (5th) and Laura Pearson all attained top-seven places in the Year 8 event, while Lauara Harris finished a commendable second in the Year 9 race.

q International athlete Suki Brownsdon is a special guest at Eltham College, in Mottingham, on Friday afternoon. It is part of the Vimto Masterclass when athletes coach at local level while offering an insight into competing at top-level.
