Bestival has The Cure

Sunday, September 11, 2011 - 11:24

THE stars came out to play for fancy dress day at the Bestival yesterday (Saturday), when The Cure brought down the curtain on the main stage.
The band performed for over two hours in an exclusive set that was the result of years of negotiating by Rob da Bank and the Bestival team.
Rob himself provided the warm up for the performance with a DJ slot filled with some of Cure frontman Robert Smith's favourite tracks.
Earlier, newly crowned Mercury Music Prize winner, PJ Harvey, treated the crowd to a simple, but gripping show.
Clad in black and in a striking feather headdress she performed many of the tracks off latest album Let England Shake.
There were some heavy showers, but Bestival looks as though it may escape the worst of the weather that was predicted for today.
Forecasters had told the Island to expect 50mph gusting winds and heavy rain.
According to Metcheck and the Met Office today (Sunday) however, the Island might not see rain until late tonight, while temperatures in the day are expected to be a sunny 18C.
Icelandic star Bjork headlines tonight, with sets on the main stage from Robyn, Maccabees, Big Audio Dynamite and Kelis earlier in the day.
