FIREFIGHTERS were called to Coppins Bridge this afternoon (Friday) after a car caught fire.

Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called at around 3pm.

A spokesman for the service said: "It was an electrical fire which took about ten minutes to extinguish. The car was not on the carriageway when we arrived."

The car's windows were blackened by the fire, however two women, who were in the vehicle when the fire broke out, were uninjured.

Police also attended the incident.
