Cash for new heart machine

By Matt White - Thursday, July 2, 2009

THE British Heart Foundation (BHF) has announced it has raised £9,500 towards a new echocardiograph machine for St Mary’s Hospital.
The appeal to raise £27,500 for the new machine only started in March this year and although the charity is delighted with its progress, it wants  more people to get involved in fundraising.
"We would like to thank everyone who has supported the appeal so far but we still have lots of money to raise," said Mary Bareham, fundraising and volunteer manager for the BHF.
The echocardiograph machine can analyse the structure of the heart and show diseases of the heart valves and muscle, as well as congenital defects such as holes in the heart.
Previously these defects would only have been found during a surgical procedure.
Anyone who would like to make a donation to the appeal or become a volunteer with the BHF can contact Mary Bareham on 023 9246 7904.
