Borehamwood 9 Ilford Water Polo Club 7
Winter League Division Three
Wood maintained their early season form in the Winter League when they defeated Ilford to maintain top spot in Division Three.
The home side got off the perfect start, taking the lead after only a minute's play with a goal from Richard Hime. Wood increased their lead thanks to David Price, however strong pressure from the visitors' attack soon told and two goals in as many minutes pulled the sides level closing the quarter at 2-2.
Price then scored again in between two strikes from Ilford before John Moore levelled once again.
Further goals from Dax Cai, Giles Martin an Moore (2) sealed a win for Wood. Borehamwood Juniors are looking for recruits at Under-16 level for their forthcoming ASA National Championships next year. If you would like to try your hand at water polo training is held at the Queen Elizabeth Boys' School in Barnet on Thursdays from 7.30pm.
