THE quality of the environment in which Island dementia patients are cared for has deteriorated, a survey has revealed.
There are also increasing problems for all patients with privacy and food and hydration at the IW NHS Trust compared to the national average, according to the survey.
A Patient-led Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE) survey was carried out across the trust in March, and the results were published this month.
The group found food and hydration standards had deteriorated compared to the national average, along with privacy, dignity, well-being and the physical environment for dementia care.
Cleanliness had improved, along with disabled access, and condition, appearance and maintenance of trust property as a whole.
Interim chief executive Maggie Oldham said she was disappointed to see deterioration in some areas, but said the trust’s improvement plan would have an impact on future results.
