Dizzee to play Bestival

By Ross Findon - Thursday, February 4, 2010

DIZZEE Rascal, Hot Chip, The Flaming Lips and Marc Almond are among the first acts to be confirmed for this year’s Bestival.
This morning, Rob da Bank announced a bill which promises to be one of the most eclectic in the country for the September festival.
Joining Dizzee and company will be 1970s pioneer Gil Scott Heron, godfathers of UK indie Echo and the Bunnymen and king of cartoons Rolf Harris.
A host of hotly-tipped acts for 2010 will help bring down the average age.
They include Ellie Goulding, The Hurts and rapper Tinie Tempah.
"I am confident when everything comes together this will be strongest line up we have ever had.
"We are hoping to announce another big act in February and a couple more in March," said Rob.
He also revealed the main stage would be located at the bottom of the Big Top hill this year, after some fans complained about its location in 2009.
This year’s fancy dress theme has yet to be announced but Rob said it had been decided and was another big theme .
"I have wanted to get Dizzee to the Bestival since I saw him play a couple of other festivals in the summer when his show was incredible," said Rob.
As well as the music acts, Rob confirmed the Afterburner Stage, which last year featured Rob being fired into space at the end of the weekend, would return.
