SINGER Derek Sandy is hoping for a green-themed Isle of Wight Christmas number one.
He has teamed-up with Ecoisland boss David Green to record a new 'eco-anthem’ to inspire people to get behind the campaign.
The track, dubbed 'Ecoisland’ is written and performed by Derek and David and was recorded in a garage in Ryde. It is available on the iTunes and CD Baby websites.
Profits will go towards sustainable projects on the Isle of Wight with a further 10 per cent going to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The video for the song was previewed to a VIP crowd at the recent Ecoislands global summit to great applause and a standing ovation, an Ecoisland spokesman said.
Alex Dyke played the song on his Radio Solent show on Wednesday.
