Andy, from Petts Wood, won the four-race Winter Saloon Car Championship, run by the British Racing and Sports Car Club, to add to his victory in the BRSCC Tomcat Rover/Vento Challenge which he clinched earlier.

The first meeting of the winter series was at Snetterton, where Andy took pole position on the grid and went on to win in his Tomcat Rover.

From there, the series moved to Silverstone, which saw Andy again take pole for the start but finish second.

It was back to Snetterton for round three where he took pole position once again and this time won the race.

With the fourth race at Brands Hatch cancelled, Andy maintained his series lead and was presented with the winner's trophy.

His father and team manager Roy Thompson said: "Last year couldn't have been better with two championships under our belts.

"But we have got a lot of planning to do before the start of the next season and our main criteria is to compete in a televised series to get the coverage and sponsorship which Andy deserves."
