Kingston Chamber of Commerce has surveyed its members to ensure it reflects the needs of businesses about to enter the 21st century.
The chamber has sent questionnaires to members, organised focus groups and brought in an experienced consultant.
The results are being analysed and should be published by the end of the year.
Chamber chief executive, Catherine Swainson, explained: "We need to reflect the requirements of today's entrepreneurs.
"So we have been asking people what they want from a chamber of commerce and how we can provide value for money."
