Ferry called back to port by police

A RED Funnel ferry had to return to East Cowes this morning (Thursday) after a request from police.

The 5.45am had just left its Isle of Wight berth, when it was asked to return by police.

Red Funnel said there was a 15 minute delay while police came aboard and escorted a passenger from the vessel.

Police later confirmed it had arrested a 55-year-old man at a ferry terminal on suspicion of conspiracy to cause misconduct in a public office. A 55-year-old woman has also been arrested.
