Uxbridge 272-8 dec Brondesbury 273-4

Middlesex County League Division One

Ian Kidd was the matchwinner with his maiden century as defending champions Brondesbury scored their second successive victory and leap-frogged into second place behind Ealing.

With Brondesbury chasing a target of 273, Kidd batted brilliantly, hitting 15 fours in his 100, off 127 balls.

Over the past two seasons, he has relished the opportunity to bat in the top three and showed that that is where he belongs.

Equally impressive was Australian Matt Stein, who has been Brondesbury's batting star this year, scoring more than 300 league runs at an average of more than 80.

His 75 not out underlined why he is regarded as one of the best batsmen in the Middlesex County League.

Kidd and Stein put on 105 and Kidd was joined by Ian Osborne (17) and Eddie Gladwin (35) and stands of 54 and 73.

Tommy Simpson (23 no) provided the icing on the cake as Brondesbury won comfortably.

As Brondesbury prepare for Saturday's league visit to Richmond and Sunday's Evening Standard Trophy home match with Walton on Thames, further boosts are the return of Mike Hood and Luke O'Reilly following injury, and the arrival of James Hudson, a talented off-spinner and batsman from the Lord's groundstaff.
