Firefighters cut man free from car

FIRE crews from Newport and Freshwater were called to a two car collision close to Compton on the Isle of Wight yesterday (Sunday).

One man was cut free from his car and taken by ambulance to St Mary's Hospital. No details of his injuries or condition were available.

Emergency services were called at 2.15pm to the Military Road to the collision involving a Mazda and a Citroen.

The man was cut free in an operation lasting more than 30 minutes.
