UPDATED 17:01*

FOG has led to disruption for Isle of Wight commuters this afternoon (Thursday).

Hovertravel company announced at 2.47pm that it was running a revised one craft service and the following crossings were cancelled:

• 4.30pm, 5pm and 5.30pm from Ryde, Isle of Wight.

• 4.45pm, 5.15pm and 5.45pm from Southsea.

Red Funnel said its services had also been affected.

"Due to reduced visibility — a mixture of dense fog and rain — we have a speed restriction in force in Southampton water.

"We are currently experiencing delays of 5-10 minutes.

"Every effort being made to get vessels back to our scheduled timetable," the company said on its website.

Even the most ardent of fixed link supporters would not attempt to make an argument based on a ten minute delay... daft

After a 14 hour day commuting, 5 minute delay really doesn't make much difference!

Bridge traffic is often disrupted by 'freak' weather too. Wow - 5 to 10 minutes delay to a human life !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
