ACTION on Hearing Loss is offering free hearing checks on the Isle of Wight.

Tomorrow (Wednesday, February 21) there will be a drop in session at Argyll House Surgery, West Street, Ryde, from 2 to 4pm.

On Friday, February 23, there will be a drop in session at Sandown Health Centre, Broadway, from 10am to 12 noon.

A spokesperson for Action on Hearing Loss said: "Please note for the screening at Argyll House Surgery, you are advised to book an appointment by calling the practice on 562955, however you will be seen if you do just turn up.

"This service is available exclusively on the Isle of Wight for over 18s.

"The hearing screenings aim to give locals an opportunity to drop in and have their hearing checked by trained volunteers.

"You will be asked to complete a short questionnaire to highlight any specific concerns you may have about your hearing, and/or difficulties you have or are experiencing, before having an initial assessment with a Siemens HearCheck screener.

"This will only take up five to 10 minutes of your time."

Hannah Crookes, Action on Hearing Loss’ Project Manager for the pilot scheme, said: "We are pleased to now be running frequent hearing screening sessions at Argyll House Surgery and Sandown Health Centre, to provide more opportunities for the public to get their hearing checked at no cost.

"You also don’t need to be registered at the practice to attend. If you have any concerns about your hearing, or you think a family member or friend may benefit from having their hearing checked, I would strongly recommend that you pop along to one of these free screening events."
