STALWART of many Isle of Wight organisations for decades, Gloria Minghella, died yesterday (Thursday) morning at the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

Mrs Minghella, who was aged 83, leaves her husband, acclaimed scriptwriter son, Dominic, and three daughters.
Gioia runs the family ice cream business, Loretta is the director of Christian Aid and Edana has achieved recognition as a jazz performer.
Parish priest Ftr Anthony Glaysher, who was with the family at the hospice, said: "Our love and prayers are with the family of a remarkable woman."
Writing on his website, Dominic Minghella said yesterday (Thursday): "Devastated to have to report the loss of my extraordinary Mum, Gloria, who died earlier today.
"It has been a day of total heartbreak — and of much counting of blessings.
"Her warmth, her love, her intelligence, her grace, her delicious turn of phrase... It’s a long and wonderful list.
"You can imagine our pain. You cannot imagine our pride."
*In this week's County Press it has been incorrectly reported that Mrs Minghella was aged 93.
