DRIVERS have been given a stern warning against using St Mary's Hospital as a shortcut.
Isle of Wight NHS Trust chief executive Karen Baker said action would be taken against motorists who cut through the hospital site between Parkhurst Road and Dodnor Lane.
"I have been concerned in recent weeks to see vehicles speeding around the St Mary’s site and asked for action to be taken.
"During one week, our health, safety and security team turned 87 cars around on the Monday that were just using the site as a shortcut. On Wednesday it was 93 cars and on the Friday it was 60," she said.

Why don't you start charging £1 for the privilege of using the short cut. You will either stop cars from using it or make a few hundred a week. It could be used to subsidise the astronomical parking fees.

Maybe the hospital could build a staff car park to free up the ones around the hospital?
