It was pleasing to read Leigh Collins' article (College Farm safe at last' Times Group, June 7).

I lived in Finchley until 1969 when, at the age of 25, I married and moved to Hendon.

I remember the days when, returning home from Christ's College School, one diverted one's journey just to see the workings of the Express Dairy and to glimpse at a piece of country sitting right in the middle of urban development.

I must congratulate Chris Ower on his untiring fight to keep the farm open and to give pleasure to the countless number of people who visit the site each year.

And where better to take the grandchildren for a couple of hours on the weekend to see such a broad variety of animals and to enjoy home made teas and cakes.
