Millwall may be sitting pretty on top of the Nationwide Wide Division Two, but suspensions are threatening to jeopardise the Lions promotion bid.

Tim Cahill and Steven Reid have both accumulated five bookings this season and will miss the next game, as will Christophe Kinet, who is out for two more matches.

But with Matt Lawrence returning after suspension and ready-made deputies in the shape of Mark Bircham and utility player Lucas Neill, boss Mark McGhee may have little to worry about as the Lions prepare for a tricky trip to Colchester this weekend.

McGhee should be optimistic, particularly after his makeshift side, without the suspended pair of Lawrence and Kinet, disposed of promotion challengrs Wigan at the New Den.

Mark McGhees Lion Cubs came of age on Saturday to conclusively disprove the theory that Millwall are unable to beat the divisions top teams. But it was the experience of Paul Moody and, in particular his finishing, which was instrumental in the 3-1 win.

Millwall clearly meant business and needed only 12 minutes to take the lead. Neil Harris, under close scrutiny from the Premiership clubs, crossed from the right and the ball reached Paul Moody, who headed home.

Thirteen minutes later, Harris was again the provider for Moody to make it 2-0 and then Moody claimed his hat-trick just before the hour mark, heading in David Livermores cross, before Wigan scored a late consolation from Darren Sheridan.
