A MANUDEN man has returned home after working as a volunteer with Raleigh International in Mongolia for more than two months.

Adam Heap, 22, of The Street, was one of 94 volunteers aged between 17 and 25 who spent ten weeks working on challenging environmental community and adventure projects for Raleigh International.

He helped build a new health clinic made with straw bale insulation in a rural community, and took part in a 200km trek across the Gobi desert.

The expedition was Raleigh International's fifth expedition to Mongolia since 1999.

The youth development charity (formally Operation Raleigh) inspires people from all backgrounds and nationalities to discover their full potential by working together on challenging enviromental and community projects around the world.

Mr Heap graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in history and economics.

Before deciding to volunteer for Raleigh International, he worked in Chicago as a football coach and customer relations officer with KLM airlines on his return to the UK.
