May 3, 2001 9:24: WASHABLE nappies were given an airing as Bromley's waste reduction team hit the streets to tell new mums and dads about protecting the environment.
The team was out in force on Bromley High Street, doing its best to persuade shoppers of the merits of avoiding disposable nappies.
Bromley environmental promotions officer Kay Spurrier said: "About 35,000 disposable nappies are thrown away every day in Bromley that's one every 2.5 seconds.
"So we would be pleased to give mums and dads the chance to see what products are now available." If you would like to find out more, call her on 020 8313 4913.
