A REPORT of a sinking boat off the Isle of Wight prompted a call out for Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat this evening (Thursday).

They were called into action after a report of a boat sinking off Colwell Bay at around 5.30pm.

The all weather lifeboat was launched and began to tow the boat back to Yarmouth, while two RNLI crew members worked on board the sinking vessel to keep it afloat.

The lifeboat had returned to Yarmouth by around 6.20pm.
