POLICE arrested a 49-year-old man on suspicion of having a firearm in a Ventnor hotel last night (Wednesday).
Armed police were called to the Burlington Hotel at 6.15pm and sealed off Bellevue Road.
They refused to confirm details of the incident last night, but issued a brief statement this morning (Thursday).
It revealed that the arrested man was from Ventnor, that he was still being questioned but had not yet been charged with an offence.
An armed response vehicle was among several police units including a forensic team called to the hotel.
No-one was injured.
