KIND-HEARTED Marley Travers was so moved by the plight of people who cannot afford to eat that he decided to do something about it.

The Ryde youngster, who attends Haylands Primary School, raised £17.50 for the Isle of Wight Foodbank with a sponsored scoot.

Marley, seven, caught the fundraising bug after raising £18 for Children in Need with a sponsored school spelling bee.

Him mum, Lisa Van Damm, said: "We are going to present the money to the foodbank and they have offered to show him round and explain more about the work they do, which he's very excited about.

"He has always been a kind and caring boy, and he wants to raise money to help people who can't afford to eat and have little money.

"Last week in France he asked if we could give money to a homeless person and felt happy the man would be able to have some food for dinner that night.

"As Marley's mum I am extremely proud of his act of kindness for local people in need."
