A DOCTOR from Thamesmead has been sentenced to 180 hours community service after pleading guilty to three charges of fraudulently claiming housing benefit.
Dr Olutito Adebajo, a 37-year-old of Webb Court, Thamesmead, was sentenced at Woolwich Magistrates' Court after receiving housing benefit and Council Tax since July 14.
The doctor, who at the time was working as a full-time phlebotomist, claimed he was working part-time between July 20, 1998 and May 20, 2000. In that time, Dr Adebajo managed to amass £10,278.52 in benefit payments.
It was discovered he had been working full-time since May 12. He was ordered to pay £600 costs. The money has been repaid to Greenwich Council in full.
