THE mystery of the giant moth which appeared in a garden in Bromley has finally been resolved.
The moth, now believed to be an Indian lunar moth and not an American one, was found in Siward Road, on the trunk of an apple tree in the garden. It arrived overnight and spent a day there before disappearing.
Dijon Venter tried to track down what kind of moth it was and assumed the moth may have escaped from a butterfly farm and he was right.
A breeder, just six doors away, said the moth must have hatched outside the breeding cage and flown away.
