ISLAND Roads is planning to resurface the lower section of Newport High Street in a scheme starting early next month.
The section of road that runs between St James Street and Coppins Bridge will be closed between 7:30pm and 6am with a diversion in place, and pedestrian access will be maintained where it is safe to do so.
The road will be open as normal during the day and at weekends in order to reduce the impact on local trade, and residents and businesses most affected by the work have been notified by letters explaining more about the scheme.
The work is scheduled to last five weekday nights between October 2 and October 6, but the programme may be subject to change due to factors outside Island Roads' control.
