Plenty of cheer at Dickensian Christmas

CAROLS, Christmas craft and entertainment add up to a Dickens of a good run-up to Christmas in Ryde.

Shops stay open until 6pm tonight (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) and until 4pm on Sunday.

All sorts of entertainment and refreshments are promised in the town over the weekend with a Dickensian-themed 'royal’ visit tomorrow (Saturday).

Santa will also be in his grotto in the Royal Victoria Arcade in Union Street as part of Dickensian Christmas, which has been organised by Ryde Business Association.

There are also Christmas carols in Vernon Square tonight (Friday) between 5pm and 6pm.

A craft fair is being organised by Ryde Old Town Association over the weekend and a candlelit carol service in the St Mary’s Church, High Street rest garden, at 4pm.

Traditional wreath and garland making is being organised at the St Thomas’s Heritage Centre tomorrow (Saturday).
