The two-day fixtures, introduced as a pilot scheme last season will, no doubt, have its critics but there was an interesting first day's play in the match at Manor Way.
Robert Clinton showed what a stylish and formidable batsman he is by making an unbeaten 60 as Bexley reached 184-6 when their first innings was, as is the case under the new rules, suspended after 68 overs.
In reply, Bickley Park have made 107-2
after 34 overs.
Bexley's 2nd X1, which still plays the one-day variety, got their season off to a winning start by beating Maidstone side The Mote on their own ground. Bexley batted first and reached 185-7 in their allotted overs thanks mainly to Winterscale's half-century.
In reply, The Mote, despite a solid 50 from Beck, were dismissed for just 110 with Burton and Symons each claming four wickets.
This Saturday, the second X1 travels to play Bickley Park. The match is scheduled to start at 1.30pm.
