Red Jets sail into sunset

CROSS-Solent ferry operator Red Funnel bid a fond farewell to Red Jet 1 and Red Jet 2 today (Friday) as they set sail for St Petersburg, Russia, en route to their new home in Kazakhstan on the Caspian Sea.

Jonathan Green, sales and marketing director, said: "The sale of Red Jets 1 and 2 to Caspian Mainport marks the end of an era.

“Built for Red Funnel in 1991 by FBM Marine in Cowes, they revolutionised cross-Solent travel and have clocked up more than 1.2 million miles apiece. The vessels will be replaced by Red Jet 5, which enters service in July."
