THE Royal Artillery Band will play a special charity concert in aid of the Queen's Golden Jubilee at the Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch, from 8pm on Saturday.

Formed in 1762, the band is said to be the oldest established orchestra in Great Britain.

In addition to their musical abilities, band members are trained medical assistants, and many served in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War.

Profits from the performance will go to the SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) Forces Help, a national charity for serving and ex-service men, women and their families in need.

SSAFA Forces Help is one of the official beneficiaries of the Golden Jubilee.

Tickets cost £12 (£9 for senior citizens, £6 for cadets in uniform). Ring the box office on 01708 443333.
