The raiders burst into the El Sombrero Mexican restaurant in High Street, South Croydon at closing time on Thursday, brandishing 12-inch blades and demanding money.
Each of the three workers - two men and a woman - had a knife held to their throats by the attackers who wore hats and scarves to disguise their faces. One worker, a 19-year-old man, was thrown to the floor and kicked in the face.
The raiders - all in their late 20s, 5ft 9 ins tall with foreign accents - stole £150 plus credit cards and made off on foot around 11.50pm.
