IT might not have felt like it for the past few days, but the Isle of Wight is one of the sunniest places in Britain.
The County Press has discovered that for the past five years, the Isle of Wight may have lost out on millions of pounds-worth of tourism, after it was ignored in the national sunshine league.
But we are fighting to restore Shanklin to the top of the table, where Met Office figures show it belongs.
We will lobby national newspapers to once again include the town in their weather reports and we want as many Islanders as possible to support the campaign.
We hope if as many Islanders as possible add their names to an open letter to newspaper editors and news organisations, they will not be able to ignore the country’s sunshine capital any more.
Bestival organiser Rob da Bank, the town council, hoteliers and Isle of Wight Council leader David Pugh have already given their support and you can add yours by e-mailing us your name and address to email@example.com, or completing the form on the County Press website.
Your details will not be published but your name could be included when the County Press writes to newspaper editors as part of the campaign.
