FUNDRAISING DAY: A fundraising day will be held on May 1 at Sanderstead Lawn Tennis Club in Penwortham Road for sufferers of Menieres disease, which impairs hearing and balance. Organisers hope money can be made through the various stalls and attractions. Gates open at 11am.

HITTING RIGHT NOTE: Ninety-two-year-old crooner Alex Shapcott has won first prize in the recent Eastbourne Music and Arts Festival. The grand old man of the Croydon-based Wellesley Singers sung Bright is the Ring of Words by Vaughn Williams.

MEN NEEDED: The Wellesley Singers need more men to join in rehearsals for their July concert. Rehearsals are held between noon and 1.30pm at URC Church Hall in Addiscombe Grove, Croydon.
