Where do we go from here? If we look at the history of the Labour- controlled Lewisham Council road safety systems, we would find hundreds of thousands of pounds, even millions, depending how far we go back, have been spent on so-called road safety campaigns.
Their excuse for continuing to finance their ludicrous schemes is “they work” and people's lives are saved.
Well that's great, and no one in his or her right mind would deprive such a worthy cause of money. But do they work?
Or is this just another excuse to continue to condone their abuse of public spending.
If all these new systems work so efficiently, then why are they continually changing their so-called modern ideas?
And if all this money they have been spending over the decades had worked, why is the council spending more public money, which is needed for more pressing matters.
