WHY not enjoy celebrate Valentines Day with an evening of music and a romantic candlelit dinner to support a fundraising campaign for equipment to help cancer patients on the Isle of Wight?

The event, which will include a three-course meal and feature live easy listening dance music by Island group, Reflections, will be held at Shanklin Conservative Club next Friday, February 10.

The aim of Valentines Night is to not only have fun, but to help its organiser, Anne Taylor, of Lake, to purchase a £30,000 portable ultrasound machine for the chemotherapy unit at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.

Anne is appealing to Islanders to support the cause, which would help local cancer patients by keeping some cancer procedures on the Island and reduce the stresses of having to travel to the mainland.

Thanks to Anne's determined fundraising efforts over the past year, the running total currently stands at £21,540.

She said she hopes to hit her cash target in June.

Valentines Night starts at 7pm and will run through to midnight.
