PEOPLE on the Isle of Wight are being urged to help Newport's Quay Arts win a visit by a top photographer.
The national UK arts competition, Connect 10, is giving museums and galleries the chance to win a visit from internationally-acclaimed photographer, Simon Roberts.
Quay Arts has been shortlisted for the visit and is battling it out against The Working Class Movement library in Salford and the Guernsey Museum.
The visit would be held as part of Museums at Night — the annual after-hours celebration of arts and heritage — which takes place between May 18 and 20. The aim of the campaign is to encourage new audiences into museums and galleries.
Simon is currently completing a project, Pierdom, to photograph every UK seaside pier. There are 68 piers in the UK, four of which are on the Isle of Wight.
Georgia Newman, from Quay Arts, said: "Our proposal is for Simon to come to Quay Arts and give a talk about Pierdom. In parallel to this, we are asking Islanders to submit their images of Island piers, taken from Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19, for their chance to win a prize.
"By voting, people could secure a chance for this acclaimed artist to come to the Island and enter our free photographic competition."

Voting closes at 5pm on March 5 and winning venues and events will be announced on March 6.
