'What language do they speak on the Isle of Wight?' — Travelodge reveals 2015's quirky questions

The team at Travelodge in Ryde celebrate its opening last month.

WHAT language do they speak on the Isle of Wight and can you help me build a boat?

Those were just two of the more quirky questions dealt with by Travelodge staff on the Isle of Wight this year.

Travelodge, which has hotels in Newport and Ryde, said its staff had also fielded requests for free travel back to the mainland and a lift to the beach and help setting up a customer's kite surfing gear.

The Isle of Wight was not alone in having to deal with weird requests.

The hotel company’s Birmingham Airport branch had one customer ask for a room near the runway, to help them avoid missing their plane.

In Bradford a staff member was asked to pose as a customer’s PA at a business meeting, while in Sheffield a guest wanted staff to fill the bath with 100 litres of Evian, heated to 38 degrees.
