THE life-saving efforts of a Wightlink worker have been recognised by the Isle of Wight ferry company.
When a woman suffered a cardiac arrest at the gate of the Wightlink terminal at Fishbourne, Brian Cowser used the on-site defibrillator to carry out resuscitation.
Shanklin resident Brian, who has worked at the terminal for 20 years, then reassured her family once paramedics arrived.
Duty port operations manager Stephen Mills said: "Without Brian’s intervention, the consequence could have been catastrophic, he was so very calm and measured in his actions and an absolute credit to the company."
Wightlink chief executive Keith Greenfield said: "Brian knew exactly what to do when the emergency happened, we all congratulate him for his swift action."
