SOME of the international stars of Lashings Cricket Club will be in action at a special match in Bromley next Wednesday afternoon.

Pakistan's fast bowler Shoaib Ahktar and Wasim Akram will be joined by West Indians Junior Murray, Stuart Williams, Jimmy Adams, Franklin Rose and Ritchie Richardson who will be taking the field against the host club's eleven in the limited-over game.

And, according to Lashings chairman David Folb, an even bigger star may make an appearance too.

Folb said: “There's a chance Brian Lara will play. He has been injured but he could be fit by next week.

“We will pick the best side available from our squad on the day, but either way there will be lots of top quality players to entertain the spectators.”

Folb, who tongue-in-cheek

described former West Indian test captain Richie Richardson as “crap” when deciding not to play him in last Friday's six-a-side tournament at Blackheath, added: “Richie will definitely be playing and he still is a world class player. You'll only have to see him on the day to see what I mean.”

Bromley's team will include Australian Joe Dawes, former Surrey and England player Joey Benjamin, Jatin Pazanpre, from India, and South African Deon Kruis.

Wednesday's 40-over match at Bromley Cricket Club, in Plaistow Lane, starts at 2pm and admission is free. Refreshments will be available from noon. So, why not go along and see the best in action?
