Yarmouth isolated by jammed bridge

DIVERSIONS were put in place this afternoon as engineers worked to repair the Isle of Wight's Yar Bridge at Yarmouth which jammed open.

Island Roads temporarily re-opened Thorley Road to provide access to the town which was cut off by a combination of the stuck bridge and the major Bouldnor  Road reconstruction programme.

Motorists were advised to take care using the diversionary route, which was in place for more than two hours until bridge repairs were completed mid afternoon.
