CHILDREN on an Orpington estate had a special summer, thanks to one hardworking mother-of-two.
Debbie Garrard, 27, set up a playscheme for children aged between four and 11 on the Ramsden estate with funding from Broomleigh and local charities.
Every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon throughout the summer holidays, more than 20 children have attended activity sessions ranging from cookery to visits from the fire brigade.
Miss Garrard said: “A few of the mums always get together to keep an eye on their kids playing over the summer. I just decided to take it one step further and get funding for a proper free playscheme. Hopefully there will be another one next year.”
