A TRANSPORT charity has unveiled an online facility for cyclists to plan journeys along safe routes through London.

The Sustrans website found at www.sustrans.org.uk now carries a “virtual tour” of the national cycle network, including sightseeing tips, bike maintenance and printable maps.

Sustrans is a charity which aims to encourage people to walk, cycle or use public transport. Charity director John Grimshaw said: “We hope this will make cycling towards a sustainable future more attractive.”

The national cycle network is a Lottery-supported project which currently covers 6,000 miles of safe, high-quality routes. By 2005, it will cover 10,000 miles nationwide.
