A Twickenham-based firm is taking on the might of a huge American company and is refusing to lie down.

BookEnds, a magazine covering new book releases, and its parent company Book Data (an Internet book mail-order firm) are a rare success story.

They are competing against Amazon, the largest book mail-order company, and winning.

Currently they employ 85 people, and are growing at the rate of 20 per cent a month.

BookEnds, a magazine that has only been around for a year, manages to maintain people's attention by drawing high profile contributors.

Book Data manages to maintain its growth by aiming itself squarely at the British market.

It focuses on UK titles and authors, and also has many bookshops in Britain, meaning that its despatching time is quicker than its competitors (currently at 3-4 days, compared to weeks from others).

As of this month BookEnds will also be giving a 10 per cent discount on all books that are featured within its pages, an offer that no other firm can match.

BookEnds is accessed from http://www.BookEnds.co.uk, and Book Data can be found at http://www.BookData.com.
