The garden will be constructed on the two huge tarmaced flat areas above the Cambridge Road Estate car park.

It will contain seats, space for children, mosaics and a water feature.

It is the brain child of The Save The World Club.

The organisation' objective is to use art and laughter to make people understand environmental issues.

Sixty families on the estate will be helping with the garden.

Bernadette Vallely of The Save The World Club, who has been putting together a programme and raising funds, said: "Everyone on the estate will be encouraged to take part.

For example, we will be asking them to donate an old chipped plate for the mosaics."

"We will also have a horticulturalist and a specialist in community gardening, Claire Moorehouse who has been on TV gardening programmes."
