ROWINGISLAND rowing continues to go from strength to strength, after more international success.

Ant Locke, 22, from Newbridge, won bronze with the Great Britain coxed eights in the Under-23 World Championships in Belarus last weekend, finishing behind Germany and USA.

He has already gained success rowing for Harvard, at the Eastern Sprints in America and the Ladies’ Plate at Henley.

Meanwhile, former Ryde High School students Steve Salter and Ash Maitland, featured in last week’s edition, helped England to an overall points victory at the Home International Regatta, in Cork, last weekend. They came second in the lightweight pairs and the coxed eights.
