Brothers lead a medal rush

SPECIAL OLYMPICS

BROTHERS Charlie and Chris Burgess led a medal rush for the IW Special Olympics team at the Southern Region Athletics Championships in Windsor.

Charlie threw a new PB in the soft ball throw to take gold with a distance of 21.85m, while Chris made it double gold when he won his soft bal throw division, with a distance of 10.17m.

Jon Baker fought hard in a very tough division 1 of shot put to take silver with a distance of 9m.

Bronze medals were won in the long jump by Andrew Powell and Sarah Beane, and Charlie and Nathan Bound also took bronze in the 100m.

A team bronze was won for the 4x100m men’s relay team, of Jon, Nathan, James Hay and Andrew Powell.
