MORE than 3,200 cyclists are expected to take part in Sunday’s CP-sponsored IW Randonnee.
The event, organised by the Wayfarer Cycle Touring Club, will feature a 100km clockwise route around the IW and a 55km route.
Riders can start from any of the six checkpoints at East Cowes (Red Funnel), Kite Hill Farm campsite, Wootton, Bembridge Youth and Community Centre, Alverstone Village Hall, Whitwell Village Hall and Yarmouth Primary School.
Similarly to 2014, an alternative route will be in place around the River Medina, due to the floating bridge being out of service.
IW Council signs and marshals will be on hand to divert riders during the event.
Vic Mann, from the Wayfarers, said: “We’re really pleased with the entries.
“It has to the biggest cycling event in the country now and it's popularity continues to grow.
“It’s a lovely sight seeing all the cyclists, so we’re looking forward to hosting another randonnee.”
