CYCLING

CYCLISTS Arthur Venables and Matt Harris defied a tricky headwind and the heat to post excellent times at a ten-mile time trial in Liss.

The wind was blowing from north-east to south-west, meaning they would have a headwind for the entire second half of the course.

Arthur headed out onto the course with temperatures averaging 28 degrees along the A3.

He put in a decent performance and registered a PB time of 23.18 to earn the fastest junior prize.

Matt crossed the line in 21.26 and this time helped the a3crg team collect the fastest team prize.

A week before, Matt competed in another ten-mile event and got a PB time of 21.02.
